The TL Electro X is a reflex camera from the Japanese manufacturer Yashica . The camera was manufactured between October 1968 and December 1974. After Praktica PL Electronic (approx. March 1968) and Contarex SE (September 1968), it was the world's third reflex camera with an electronically controlled shutter. In contrast to the first two, which were only produced in small series of just over 3,000 copies, the Yashica was the more important camera for further technical development with approx. 300,000 pieces. It had TTL exposure metering and also had innovation to offer here: Instead of the usual light balance with a moving coil instrument and needle, micro-lights in the shape of arrows were used to display the exposure meter , which indicated over- or under-exposure in the viewfinder. There were no longer any mechanically moving components in the measuring system. As with most of the cameras commonly used at the time, the exposure at the working aperture is measured and displayed by operating the dimming lever.

The Yashica TL Electro X is relatively heavy at over a kilogram (including normal lens). As a special feature, the camera has also been given a mirror lock to enable the camera to be used on microscopes and telescopes .

The camera was available in silver and completely in black (model variant ITS). A total of about 300,000 copies were built.
