Yavuz Kurtulmus (* 1980 in Turkey ) is a Vienna- based curator and director of film festivals and genderqueer events. Kurtulmus is an LGBT activist.

Live and act

Yavuz Kurtulmus was born in Turkey in 1980 and came to Austria in 1987. He worked in risk management until 2009, but then founded the MiGaY association in 2009 , which was supposed to draw attention to queer people with a migrant background from different nationalities.

In 2012 he founded the Transition Queer & Minorities Film Festival , the first European film event that focused on the sexuality and diversity of marginalized groups of different national origins. There was collaboration with national and international events, such as the Teddy Awards at the Berlinale , the Fusion Festival and the Wien Museum .

In 2018 he founded the Porn Film Festival Vienna with Jasmin Hagendorfer and Gregor Schmidinger , a festival that tries to bring feminism , genderqueere theory, art and pornography together.

Kurtulmus also curated film programs that were shown in various European cities ( Oslo , Amsterdam and Budapest ).

Since 2017 Kurtulmus has been a member of various film juries (e.g. Oslo / Fusion), organizes workshops and gives lectures in which he addresses topics of art forms in Muslim queer activism and the importance of film theater in the field of sexuality, social politics and gender.
