Yelena Jurayeva

Yelena Jurayeva ( Russian Елена Юраева ; born October 31, 1977 in Alma-Ata ; † November 8, 2013 ) was a Kazakh jazz pianist .

Jurayeva won several competitions and began studying piano in 1992 at the Tchaikovsky College in her hometown, which she completed with a diploma as a piano teacher, accompanist and soloist. In 1998 she moved to Frankfurt am Main, where she studied instrumental and vocal pedagogy at the local music college. As part of the jazz and popular music postgraduate course, she increasingly dealt with jazz. Since 2003 she has been teaching at the Oberursel Music School . She has released two solo albums, Over the Rainbow and Kaleidoscope. Since 2006 she has also been part of Lindy Huppertsberg's Witchcraft Trio (with Angela Frontera), with whom she toured several times and can be heard on the album 3 | 3 | 3 . She also performed in a duo with the vibraphonist Izabella Effenberg .

In 2007 Jurayeva received the jazz scholarship from the city of Frankfurt.
