The Yinshan Mountains , Yinshan or Yin Shan ( 阴山 , Yin Shan or 阴山山脉 , Yinshan shanmai ) is an approximately 1200 km long in east-west direction of extending the mountains in the middle of the plateau of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Inner Mongolia and northern Hebei Province in the People's Republic of China .

It consists of the Langshan Mountains狼山 and the Wula Mountains乌拉 山 in the west, the Daqing Mountains大 青山 and Huitengliang Mountains灰 腾梁山 in the middle, and the Liangcheng Mountains凉城 山 and Huashan Mountains in the south 桦 山 and in the east from the Damaqun Mountains大马 群山. In its north lies the Inner Mongolia plateau , in the south the narrow, fertile Hetao plain .

The mountains form the watershed between the rivers that flow into the sea and the area without drainage. During the Qin and Han periods, part of the Great Wall was built along the Yinshan Mountains.

The rock carvings of the Yinshan Mountains ( Yin Shan yanhua ) in the front Urad banner and other areas have been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (6-818) since 2006 .
