Yo Kan

Yo Kan - Chinese Han Yang - (born October 19, 1978 in Shenyang ) is a Japanese table tennis player born in China . He took part in three world championships and the 2008 Olympic Games .

Career

Yo Kan is right-handed, he plays penholder style.

He achieved his first international successes under the Chinese flag in 1994 when he reached the semi-finals of the Asian Youth Championships in singles. In 1999 he played for four months for the Austrian club SVS Niederösterreich , to which he returned again in 2007.

Since 2006 he has been a member of the Japanese national team.

He took part in the World Championships in 2007 , 2008 and 2009 . He was third with the Japanese team in 2008.

In 2008 he qualified for the Olympic Games , directly via the world rankings. In the individual, he defeated the Russian Alexei Smirnow in the third round and was defeated in the fourth round to the Chinese and later silver medalist Wang Hao . In the team competition he came in fifth.

His best position in the ITTF world rankings was 17th in 2008 (January - April and September - November).
