Giorgos Tzavellas

Giorgos Tzavellas , also known as George Tzavellas , Georges Tzavellas , Yiorgos Tzavellas or Yorgos Javellas ( Greek Γιώργος Τζαβέλλας , * 1916 in Athens ; † 18th October 1976 ), was a Greek film director , screenwriter and playwright , actor and film producer .

Life

Giorgos Tzavellas wrote 26 plays, some of which he turned into scripts (including Asterismos tis parthenou ). He wrote the scripts for all of his films himself.

Along with Michael Cacoyannis and Nikos Koundouros, Giorgos Tzavellas is considered to be one of the most important Greek film directors of the post-war period. In 1964 he was a member of the international jury of the Berlinale .
