The York and Carleton Railway was a railway company in the Canadian province of New Brunswick . It was founded in 1887 and built a branch line that branched off in Cross Creek from the Northern and Western Railway opened in the same year and led to Ryan Brook . It was about eight miles long and standard gauge . On May 20, 1918, the 8.2 kilometer Cross Creek – Stanley line went into the possession of the Canadian Government Railways , which seven months later became part of the Canadian National Railways . The Stanley- Ryan Brook section was taken out of service before the government took over. The remainder of the route was closed in 1995 at the latest together with the connecting route in Cross Creek.
