You Could Have It So Much Better is the second music album by the British band Franz Ferdinand .

General

In 2005 the album was released in several versions worldwide in the first week of October. “So look out for bonus features,” as it says on the band's official website. In contrast to the first album Franz Ferdinand , you Could Have It So Much Better less artificial and synthesizer sounds. Instead, the harder guitar sound dominates. The song "Eleanor Put Your Boots On" is particularly striking in terms of style, with the singing clearly resembling the singing style of the Beatles and the accompaniment being dominated by the piano and a relatively undistorted guitar. "Fade Together" is the first real ballad by Franz Ferdinand.

Meaning of the title

Before the album was released, the band considered simply calling the album 'Franz Ferdinand', like the band's debut in 2004. Singer Alex Kapranos explained:

“The whole point is that the album doesn't have a title. We decided quite a while ago, that we didn't want to give any of the albums titles, they were just going to be called 'Franz Ferdinand'. The albums are going to be identified by their color schemes rather than a title. The contrast of different colors creates a different mood. We experimented with different combinations of colors and this one stuck. "

“The point is, the album has no title. We decided quite a while ago not to give our albums any more titles, they will all simply be called 'Franz Ferdinand'. The albums are more easily recognized by their color schemes than by their title. The contrast of different colors creates a different mood. We experimented with different color combinations and this one just worked. "

- Alex Kapranos :

On August 1st, almost two months before it was released, the band changed their mind and decided to give the album a name. At first she thought of the name "Outsiders", finally she decided on "You Could Have It So Much Better ... (With Franz Ferdinand)". Paul Thompson stated:

“I was thinking something similar, but that 'You Could Have It So Much Better' would have been even greater. We talked about how we liked that idea a lot and that it was a real shame that the album wasn't going to have a title. Then we started laughing when we realized that the album hadn't been manufactured yet and we could change it after all. "
