The film describes the relationship between Louis Gothelf, the father of producer Sue Marx, and Reva Shwayder. Louis and Reva, both in their mid-80s and widowed, met on a group trip to England. Their mutual interests turned the friendship into a deep and strong relationship. The two discuss the issue of a relationship without marriage. Louis talks about his first wife, who suffered from Alzheimer's for ten years, while Reva talks about the death of two sons who died a few years after the death of their husband.

In 1988 the film was awarded an Oscar in the category Best Documentary Short Film .
