The Yule River West Branch is an arm of the river in the northwest of the Australian state of Western Australia . It is located in the Pilbara region .
geography
The branch of the river branches off from the main branch of the Yule River at the settlement Babbacurringanna . It initially flows about ten kilometers parallel to this in a north-westerly direction and then turns west. West of Mundabullangana in Cape Cossigny , about midway between Karratha and Port Hedland , opens the Yule River West Branch in the Indian Ocean .
If the Yule River has no water, which can happen for up to two years in a row, there is no water in the Yule River West Branch. If water comes from the main river, it can still seep into the coastal plain before it reaches the ocean.
