Yun Byung-se (born August 3, 1953 in Seoul ) is a South Korean diplomat and politician and acted as such from 2013 to 2017 as Foreign Minister of South Korea.

biography

Yun Byung-se studied law at Seoul National University and graduated in 1983 from SAIS at Johns Hopkins University in international relations. He joined the diplomatic service in 1976 and was seconded to the United States , Australia , Singapore and the United Nations as Ambassador . From 2004 to 2006 he was a member of the National Security Council. Under Roh Moo-hyun , he was also the leading state secretary of the president, responsible for foreign affairs, security and reunification. When he left the government, he worked for the law firm Kim & Chang, among others . During Park Geun-hye's presidential candidacy , Yun Byung-se was her senior advisor on foreign affairs. On February 13, 2013 he was nominated as Foreign Minister. Yun Byung-se is a member of the Saenuri party .

He succeeded Kim Sung-hwan on March 11, 2013. He resigned from office on June 18, 2017.
