Yusuf Saloojee

Yusuf Saloojee (* 1941 ) is a former South African diplomat.

Life

On a train journey from Roodepoort to Johannesburg , Yusuf Saloojee and his friend Ahmed Timol were caught by a conductor burning a stolen school assignment and locked in their compartment. They were able to escape the security forces but were later determined according to information from fellow travelers. In the early 1960s, Yusuf Saloojee was a teacher at Roodepoort Indian High School and a neighbor and close friend of Ahmed Timol. You were part of a group that distributed banned pamphlets and literature at RIHS. Yusuf Saloojee was a sports manager and looked after the Dynamos Football Club with Timol . In 1966 Saloojee went to Zambia .

From 1978 to 1989 he represented the African National Congress in Toronto . He then headed the ANC's International Affairs Division.

In the Department of Foreign Affairs he headed the Middle East Department .

From 1998 to 2002 he was ambassador to Abu Dhabi , from 2004 to 2008 in Tehran and from April 2009 to December 2012 in Muscat . From July to October 21, 2012, he was released from his duties as ambassador in Muscat and an investigation was carried out to determine whether he had behaved correctly when the government of Iran issued a cell phone license to Mobile Telephone Networks . Before that, his payment history with regard to his telephone bills could be publicly examined.
