Yusuf Soybaş

Yusuf Soybaş (born April 24, 1943 in Urla , Izmir Province ) is a former Turkish lieutenant general of the gendarmerie ( Jandarma ) .

After attending school, Soybaş began an officer training at the Army Academy ( Kara Harp Okulu ) , which he completed in 1963. He then attended the infantry school (Piyade Okulu) between 1962 and 1963 and found numerous uses as an officer in various army units. After attending the Army Staff Academy (Kara Harp Akademisi) in 1983, further assignments followed as an officer and staff officer in the army and in the general command of the gendarmerie, initially as deputy military attaché at the embassy in France from 1983 to 1986 and as commander of the in Şırnak stationed the 119th Border Guard Regiment. He was transferred to the General Directorate of the Gendarmerie in 1987 and served as General Secretary of the General Directorate of the Gendarmerie between 1988 and 1989.

Soybaş was then commander of the 21st Border Guard Brigade of the Gendarmerie stationed in Yüksekova between 1989 and 1991 and was promoted to Brigadier General (Tuğgeneral) in this assignment , before he was head of the General Basic Planning and Coordination Department in the General Command of the Gendarmerie from 1991 to 1992. From 1992 to 1995 he was head of the operations department in the General Command of the Gendarmerie and was promoted as such to Major General (Tümgeneral) . He then acted as deputy commander of the gendarmerie for public order between 1995 and 1996 and as commander of the 21st Border Guard Division from 1996 to 1997 and then again as head of the operations department in the general command of the gendarmerie between 1997 and 1998.

On August 24, 1998 Soybaş was promoted to lieutenant general (co- general ) and appointed head of the inspection department in the general command of the gendarmerie. Most recently in 2000 he was Chief of Staff of the General Command of the Gendarmerie (Jandarma Genel Komutanlığı) .

His marriage to Öznur Soybaş had two children.
