Yvonne Chaka Chaka (born March 18, 1965 as Yvonne Machaka in Dobsonville in Soweto , South Africa ; real name Yvonne Mhinga ) is a South African singer who lives in Johannesburg . She is often referred to as the Princess of Africa (Eng .: "Princess of Africa").

Life

Yvonne Chaka Chaka grew up in the simplest of circumstances. Her father died when she was eleven and her mother worked as a domestic servant for a low income. Chaka Chaka holds degrees in adult education and public administration from the University of South Africa . In 1997 she completed her artistic training at Trinity College , London . She is married to Mandlalele Mhinga, who works in the auto industry. The couple have four sons.

When Chaka Chaka was 19 years old, she had her first hit, I'm in Love With a DJ . With this song, the disco music with South African characteristics, also called "Bubblegum", became popular in southern Africa . This style of music is related to the Mbaqanga . With her alto voice, Chaka Chaka became one of the most popular singers in the country, has released numerous albums and has her own record label and production company. In 2006, the first gospel album, Celebrated Life, was released, Chaka Chakas. Yvonne Chaka Chaka was present at many official events, including the 85th birthday of Nelson Mandela , who also visited her often. In 2012 her album Amazing Man, a tribute to Mandela, was released.

Chaka Chaka is a member of the board of directors of the Johannesburg Tourism Company .
