Yvonne Ziegler

Yvonne Ziegler (* 1966 in Cologne ) is a German economist with a focus on international air traffic management . She researched and published on the topics of women in management positions and working mothers in Japan and Germany.

Research and Teaching

Yvonne Ziegler studied economics and did her doctorate in human resources management at the Vienna University of Economics and Business . From 1991 to 2006 she worked for Deutsche Lufthansa AG in various management positions in Germany and abroad.

Since 2007 she has held the professorship for business administration with a special focus on air traffic management at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences . From 2010 to 2013 she was Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law. Since 2010 she has been the head of the dual master’s course MBA Aviation Management (Aviation Management), which she helped to design. In cooperation with the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida, it is aimed at potential managers who want to qualify for the international management requirements of aviation.

In 2015 the book Career Perspectives of Working Mothers was published with the results of a first Frankfurt career study carried out by Yvonne Ziegler and Regine Graml from 2008 to 2010. The scientists interviewed 1,800 women in specialist and management positions in Germany. One finding of the study is the statement made by 42 percent of women that their job is no less important than family. 72 percent said that they had to experience career cuts because of their pregnancy. Approx. 50 percent demand a quota regulation with target agreements for the companies.

Since 2013 she has been leading an EU project that is being carried out together with the Indian partner university University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangaloru. It includes doctorates by three academic employees each from the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences and the UPES on the subjects of air cargo security, revenue management, social media marketing, the hedging of kerosene, the privatization of airports and the success factors of Indian low-cost airlines.

Ziegler was interviewed in the media as an aviation expert on the challenges of modern airports, especially in Rhineland-Palatinate .
