The Zündhütle is a 40 meter high drop tower built in 1952/53 in Karlsruhe - Wolfartsweier .
The tower was built by the ammunition factory Gustav Genschow & Co. AG as a scrap tower. For this purpose, liquid lead was rained down through a sieve inside and the solidified lead balls were caught. In 1973 ammunition production was stopped on the site after the ammunition factory became part of Dynamit Nobel AG in 1963 . With the exception of the fuse, all the factory buildings were demolished. Today the listed tower is used by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology for meteorological and geodetic research.
