Zvezdara ( Serbian - Cyrillic Звездара ) is a municipality of Belgrade . It is located southeast of the old town on the mountain of the same name.

Zvezdara covers an area of ​​32 km² and has 132,621 inhabitants.

Surname

The name Zvezdara comes from the Serbian word zvezda for "star". The district was named after the observatory built in 1887 (Serbian zvezdarnica ). The seven stars that make up the constellation of the Little Bear can be found on the city's coat of arms . The asteroid (1700) Zvezdara , discovered in 1940, has borne the name of the municipality since 1980.
