Lazarevac ( Serbian Лазаревац; German Zenobitz ) is a town and municipality in the Belgrade district in Serbia . The city has 23,600 inhabitants and with the surrounding places of the municipality about 62,000 inhabitants. The city is 161 meters above sea level. The municipality extends over an area of 383.51 km².
history
In 1880 the settlement that emerged from the village of Šopića had about 49 inhabitants. According to the 1961 census, the place already had 3700 inhabitants. With the onset of industrialization under socialism , the population of the municipality formed in 1957 rose to almost 60,000 by the 1991 census. The municipality of Lazarevac belonged to the Valjevo District until 1971 and to the Belgrade District since 1971.
