Barajevo ( Cyrillic : Барајево) is a suburban district and district of the same name in Belgrade .

history
Numerous water sources in the area of the present municipality formed the basis for its settlement. According to tradition, it should have been said a long time ago: "bara je ovo" - that is a pond (bara = pond). And so the name Barajevo came about , and it has been preserved to the present day.
The settlement is mentioned under the name Baraj during the Ottoman administration and under its current name during the Austrian occupation . It has been a municipality of Belgrade since 1955.
From 2004 to 2006 the Serbian Orthodox Church of the Burning of the Relics of St. Sava was built in the center of the village .
