Sopot ( Serbian : Сопот) is a suburban district of the Serbian capital Belgrade .
Surname
The name Sopot is of Old Slavic origin and means " spring or water that falls down ".
history
The small town of Sopot emerged in the middle of the village of Ropočevo and is mentioned for the first time on Langer's map at the beginning of the 19th century . Ropočevo and Sopot are marked as separate villages on this map. Sopot has belonged to the Belgrade districts since 1956.
The holiday of the Sopot City District is July 2nd, the day the Kosmaj partisan detachment is set up.
