history

In 1830 the "Association of Friends of Israel" was founded in Basel, from which in 1973 the Foundation for Church and Judaism SKJ emerged. In 1993 the Zurich Lehrhaus was launched as a new branch of the SKJ, which opened on October 30, 1994 at Limmattalstrasse 73 in 8049 Zurich (Höngg). At the end of 2006, the purpose of the foundation, the Judeo-Christian dialogue, was expanded to include dialogue with Islam, which also resulted in a name change. The SKJ became the “Zurich Lehrhaus Foundation - Judaism Christianity Islam”. On January 1, 2016, it was renamed the ZIID Zurich Institute for Interreligious Dialogue Foundation. At the end of June 2016, the ZIID left the building on Limmattalstrasse, which was sold, and moved to the Kulturpark in Weststadt.
