Z Ursae Majoris is a semi-regular variable star in the constellation Great Bear .
The American astronomer Edward Skinner King discovered its variability in 1904. Its periodicity is 195 days.
The leading "Z" in the name follows the rules for naming variable stars and states that Z Ursae Majoris is the ninth variable star discovered in the constellation Great Bear.
