Player career

The beginnings

Richi started his career as a footballer in the Tercera División at Rayo Majadahonda , a suburb of his hometown Madrid . In 2001 he went to the B-team of Atletico Madrid with whom he in the Segunda División B played. There he became an important part of the team, but left it again after only one season in 2002.

Real Murcia

In the summer of 2002, Richi, who is actually a trained striker, signed with the second division Real Murcia , where he made his debut on September 22, 2002 in a 1-0 defeat against Real Zaragoza . In his first season he became a regular player and played a significant role in the rise of his team. Richi played a decent season in 2003/2004, but Murcia was relegated again. In the following second division season Richi had ensured that his club avoided relegation with ten goals this season. 2006/2007 succeeded the long-awaited return to the first division, but this was followed by direct relegation in the 2007/08 season. Richi was deleted from the squad by the new coach Javier Clemente and then left the club. He switched to CD Tenerife.
