The Zachuren (also Tsachuren ) are a Caucasian people who live today mainly in northwest Azerbaijan (15,900) and in Russia (12,769, 9,771 of them in Dagestan ).

The Zachurs are predominantly Sunni Muslims and speak a Caucasian language ( Zachur or Tsachur or Zachigali). They were able to keep their traditions in Dagestan; in Azerbaijan, however, there are tendencies towards assimilation.

In Dagestan, the Zachuren are one of the smaller indigenous ethnic groups (0.3% of the population). They live on the upper reaches of the Samur River . 82% of the Zachurs live in the countryside, mainly in Rutulsky district . The largest Zachurian places in Dagestan are Zachur , Gelmez , Kurdul and Mikik . The settlement area in northern Azerbaijan is in the Zaqatala and Qax Rajons . Their neighboring peoples are the Rutuls , Avars and Azerbaijanis .
