Zahava Burack (born December 14, 1932 in Nowy Korczyn , Poland , † September 28, 2001 in Palm Beach , Florida ) was a Polish Holocaust survivor, philanthropist and political activist.

As a Jew, she survived the Holocaust . Together with her two sisters, parents and a cousin, she spent two years in a tiny hiding place under the floor of a house run by Polish Catholic farmers, who provided them with food. After the liberation, the Buracks were barely able to walk, and they were blinded by the daylight they had to do without in their hiding place. Zahava Burack first came to Palestine and later moved to the USA . She spent the last 40 years of her life in Westchester County ; recognized as a philanthropist , community leader and political activist (for example, she received a visit from US President Jimmy Carter ). In 1986, she found her former benefactors, Stephania and Josef Macugowski, and made sure that they were honored in the United States. Zahava Burack died of cancer in 2001.
