Gruhlwerk opencast cog railway

The Gruhlwerk opencast rack railway was a rack railway in Kierberg near Cologne operated with 3,000 volts three-phase current with a frequency of 50 Hertz . She joined the lignite - opencast mines with the briquette of Gruhl work .

The two-lane 900 mm track that went into operation in 1927 was 700 meters long and was one of the few tracks that used a three-pole overhead contact line.

In 1949 the company was closed. There were three locomotives here.
