Zaid
Zaid (also Zayd , Zeid , Zayed , Seyd ; Arabic زيد, DMG Zayd ) is a common Arabic name ( ism ) which means growth , enlargement . The best known name bearer in Islam is Zaid ibn Haritha (زيد بن حارثة / Zayd ibn Ḥāriṯah ), the adopted son of Muhammad ; he is also the only one of Muhammad's companions, the Sahaba , who is mentioned by name in the Koran .
Because of the inconsistent Latin transcription, the name Zaid can easily be combined with the name Said (سعيد / Saʿīd ) or the honorary title Sayyid (سيّد / Sayyid ), which differ significantly from one another in Arabic.
