Zakar Tarver

Zakar Tarver (* 1893 in Egin , † September 19, 1960 in Yassıada , Istanbul ) was a Turkish radiologist, doctor and politician of Armenian descent. He successfully graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Istanbul University . In France and the United States he specialized in X-ray technology. He was a professional doctor and was a member of the Turkish Grand National Assembly for Istanbul during the tenth and eleventh legislative periods. He was married and had one child.

life and death

In 1894 he moved to Istanbul. He received his education in Topkapı at the Levon-Vartuhyan Bahçecik Amerika Koleji . In 1933 he specialized in the field of radiology . After completing his specialization abroad, he became a member of the International Congress of Radiology . During the Second World War he did his military service in Sivas as a captain ( yüzbaşı ). From 1949 to 1951 and from 1951 to 1954 he was elected managing director of the Surp Pirgiç Hospital and worked there as chief physician. In the years 1954 to 1957 and 1957 to 1960 he was a member of the Democratic Party of Parliament for Istanbul. He worked successfully in the Ministry of Health and Welfare. After the military coup on May 27, 1960 , he was imprisoned with Prime Minister Adnan Menderes . His windows were closed with newspapers and he was taken to Yassıada. When he got on the ferry, an officer tripped him. Zakar Tarver fell on his head and died in Yassıada within a day and a half on September 19 ; he was the first MP to die in Yassıada.
