Zalman Friedrich (* 1911 ; † 2nd half of May 1943 in Warsaw ) was a Bundist resistance fighter in the Warsaw ghetto .

Zalman Friedrich was born the son of a Hasid , but, unlike his father, he joined the General Jewish Workers' Union ("Bund") and its youth organization " Tsukunft " after he had attended secular Jewish schools.

He then worked in the organization of schools, Zalman Friedrich was also employed by other organizations close to the federal government , such as the Morgenstern sports organization or the workers' emigration office. During this time he married his wife Zille and in 1937 had a daughter named Elsa.

Zalman was able to escape from his captivity after the German occupation. In Warsaw he was also active in the illegal union . Friedrich was mainly responsible for the contacts with the Polish underground, as he had a "typical" Polish appearance. The resistance fighter was also one of the first to find out where the deportation trains were going. He interviewed a Bundist who had fled Treblinka and reported from there.

Friedrich fought in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in April and May 1943 . After the uprising in May, he was able to flee with some of his fellow combatants, but he was betrayed in his hiding place and was killed in an exchange of fire with the Gestapo in May 1943.
