Tsarevna

Tsarevna ( Russian Царевна, "Tsar's daughter") has been the common name for a Russian (crown) princess since Ivan IV , the Terrible, accepted the title of Tsar in 1546 . In Russia itself, the (crown) princess received the title of Grand Duchess, and later that of Tsarevna.

One of the most famous Tsarevnas was Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanowa , who was murdered by the Bolsheviks in July 1918 , along with her brother, Tsarevich Alexej Nikolajewitsch , her parents and her sisters .

The male counterpart is called Tsarevich ( Russian Царевич, "Tsar's son", "Emperor's son").
