Zbigniew Bujarski

Zbigniew Bujarski (born August 21, 1933 in Muszyna ; † April 13, 2018 ) was a Polish composer and painter .

Career

Bujarski studied conducting from 1955 to 1958 and composition from 1956 to 1960 at the Cracow State Music Academy with Stanisław Wiechowicz . From 1959 to 1961 he was an editor at the Polish Music Publishing House in Cracow, then until 1967 lecturer for music and dramaturge at the Rzeszów Philharmonic .

In 1972 he became a lecturer at the Kraków Music Academy, and from 1978 to 1986 dean of the Faculty of Composition, Conducting and Music Theory. Since 1992 he has been a professor of composition. For his composition Strefy he received an honorable mention in the competition of young Polish composers in 1961. In 1964 he won second prize at the Grzegorz Fitelberg Composition Competition. At the UNESCO International Composers' Rostrum in Paris in 1967, his composition Contraria received an honorable mention. In 1978 his Musica domestica won second prize here. He has received further prizes from the Polish Ministry of Culture (1979 and 1987), the Polish Composers' Association (1984) and the City of Krakow (1984).
