Muszyna is a small town in the Polish Lesser Poland Voivodeship and has about 4900 inhabitants. The city is a state-approved health resort. It is the seat of the town-and-country municipality of the same name with around 11,600 inhabitants.

The place is located in the valley of the Poprad River and two of its tributaries, at an altitude of about 450 m above sea level, near the Slovak border and is part of the Nowosądecki Powiat . Muszyna is about 11 km from Krynica-Zdrój .
history
Muszyna was first mentioned in 1209. Since 1288 it has belonged to the Muszyna country , a latifundy of the Kraków bishops . In 1301 the Muszyna Castle was built . After 1781 the land of Muszyna was administered as a chamber property of the Habsburgs. In 1918 the place came to the Second Polish Republic . There are mineral fountains in the area, so the spa town developed. From 1975 to 1998 the city was administratively part of the Nowy Sącz Voivodeship .

traffic
Trains run from the station in three directions - to Nowy Sącz , Krynica-Zdrój and southwards the Kysak – Muszyna railway line to Slovakia.
Sports
The club MKS Muszynianka Fakro Muszyna was Polish champion in volleyball and takes part as bank BPS Fakro Muszyna in the Volleyball Champions League 2011/12 (women) . The football team Poprad Muszyna plays in the 3rd Polish league.
