Zbysława from Kiev

Zbysława of Kiev ( Russian Сбыслава Святополковна Sbyslawa Swjatopolkowna , Ukrainian Збислава Святополківна Sbyslawa Swjatopolkiwna , Polish Zbysława Kijowska * 1085/90, † 1112/14) was a princess of the Kievan Rus , a member of the princely family of Rurik and by marriage Duchess of Poland .

She was the daughter of Svyatopolk II , Prince of Kiev . Her mother is said to have been a princess of the Přemyslids .

Life

During his fights against his half-brother Zbigniew , a prince of Poland, Bolesław III allied . Wrymouth with the Kievan Rus and Hungarians . To seal his alliance with the Grand Duke of Kiev, Bolesław III. betrothed to Sviatopolk's eldest daughter, Zbysława. The Russian Primary Chronicle ( Nestor Chronicle ) mentions Zbysława, the daughter of Svyatopolk, in which it is reported that she was sent to Poland on November 16, 1102 to live with Bolesław III. to marry. Hence, the wedding took place between that date or in the early 1103. They had only one known son, the later Władysław II. The date of her death is unclear. Some sources determine the years 1109–12. It is currently assumed that she probably lived until 1114 at the latest, because Bolesław III. a year later Salome von Berg , the daughter of Heinrich, the Count of Berg- Schelklingen , married.
