The Elisabeth colliery was a former hard coal mine in Dortmund .

The mine was located in the Hörde district in today's Berghofen district on the northern slope of the Ardey Mountains . Zeche Elisabeth was founded by Mutung in 1731 on the Dickebank seam . First of all, an hereditary tunnel was created, which was also used by the neighboring Papenbank mine .

A first shaft was sunk in 1801 . Later a water art with artificial moat and reservoir was created on the Lohbach . Over the years, more wells were drilled, up to the third floor ranged. The shafts were named Kunstschacht, Christian, Helene, Ludwig, Adolph, Johanna, Busch, Fortuna, Eleonore, Flora, Gute Aussicht, Heinrich, Friedrich and Hoffnung. In 1836 the mining of coal was stopped and the colliery closed. The field is taken over by the Admiral colliery in 1920 . A hole stone from the colliery is still located on Niederhofer Kohlenweg . This is registered as an architectural monument in the list of monuments of the city of Dortmund .
