The Flößgraben colliery is a former coal mine in the Vormholz district of Witten . The mine belonged to the Märkisches Bergamtsiertel and there to the jury area Hardenstein .

Mining history

In 1833, the farmer Georg Frielinghaus suggested two seams . Both seams were on his own property. On March 15, 1836, the Geviertfeld Flößgraben was awarded . The Geviertfeld was located between the Muttenbach and the Ruhr and included the Mausegatt , Kreftenscheer and Geitling seams . Georg Frielinghaus received the mining rights for all seams in the Geviertfeld Flößgraben. In 1846 the mine was demonstrably in operation. In 1855 a tunnel was set up, which was then operated jointly with the Louischen colliery . The tunnel was driven from the Witten ferry in the area of today's Ruhr Bridge. By the end of 1855, a total of 52 3 / 8 Lachter ascended to lug length. In 1859 the Geviertfelder Flößgraben II and Flößgraben III were awarded. As a result, Frielinghaus now also received the mining rights for the Finefrau seam, the old mining rights were also retained. In 1863 the mine was demonstrably in operation. On December 22, 1874, the Geviertfeld Flößgraben IV was awarded. On December 1, 1881, the Flößgraben colliery was shut down together with the Louischen colliery. On June 16, 1936, the Geviertfelder Flößgraben I to III were slammed to the United Hardenstein colliery.

Promotion and workforce

The first known production and workforce figures for the mine come from the year 1855, when twelve miners extracted 661 Prussian tons of hard coal . In 1864, 19 miners were employed at the colliery. For the year 1867 a production of 3869 tons of hard coal was given, in 1869 the production rose to 4255 tons of hard coal. The last workforce at the mine dates back to 1874, when three miners were employed at the colliery who produced 22 tonnes of hard coal. The last production figures of the mine come from the year 1881, 30 tons of hard coal were produced.
