The Flachsteich colliery is a former hard coal mine in Wetter -Esborn in the Ennepe-Ruhr district . The colliery was also known as Zeche Flachsdeich and Zeche Flacksteich .

Mining history

Coal was mined here as early as 1739, but it could only be used for lime burning . On 5 May 1780, was carried out ceremony of the length field flat pond No. 1, then in the authorized flat pond No. 1 dismantling operated. On March 20, 1790, the Längenfeld Flachsteich No. 2, which was then also dismantled. In 1796 coal was mined in two seams, the promotion took place on the shafts 3 (shaft Küper) and 7 (shaft Schievelbusch). In 1800, shaft 5 was in operation. On May 16, the right to inherit the Friedrich Wilhelm Erbstollen was granted.

In 1803, mining was carried out below the bottom of the Erbstollen. In 1805 the Carolina, Rose and Wilhelm shafts were in operation. In May 1809 the mine was closed. In October 1813 it was put back into operation after the deeper solution was made by Friedrich Wilhelm Erbstollen. Thereafter, further alignment was only carried out by the Friedrich Wilhelm Erbstollen. In 1818 after excavation of the loci with the dismantling began. In October 1822 the mine was closed again. From October 1825 exploration work was carried out again, and mining began at the Hope Shaft as early as the following year. By 1829, the shaft reached an eligibility of 6,000 bushels a year. On March 22, 1830 , the Flachsteich colliery consolidated together with several other collieries to form the United Friedrich Wilhelm colliery.
