The Herzkamp colliery in the Herzkämper Mulde in Sprockhövel -Herzkamp is a former hard coal mine . The colliery was also known under the names Zeche Hertzkamp and Zeche Hertz Kamper Banck . Although this lasted for a long time, little is reported about the Herzkamp colliery.

Mining history

On March 24th, 1698, the general mortgage was granted on Siepen, but the colliery did not go into operation until 1739. In 1754 and 1755, five miners drove the “deep tunnel”. In the course of the year 1755 the operation was stopped again. According to the records of the weather office, Caspar Diedrich von der Mühlen was working as a shift supervisor at the mine in 1755 . The trades were Sieper and Mühler. In the documents it was noted:

" .... the colliery is quiet and waiting for the deep tunnel ... "

In the years 1758 and 1759, the fields Hertzkamp 1 to 3 were in operation. In 1766 the Hertzkamp 1 and 2 fields were in operation and in 1769 only the Hertzkamp No. 1 in operation. In 1775, the two mining fields Hertzkamp in the west and Hertzkamp in the east are listed in the documents as independent, separate operations. In 1784, hard coal was mined in a seam above the Christsieper tunnel . The seam was later added to the Mühlerbank colliery. For the years 1861 and 1862, the fields Hertzkamp to the west and Hertzkamp to the east are mentioned in the documents as being in operation. Thereafter, there is no information about the Herzkamp colliery.
