The Lebrecht colliery is a former hard coal mine in the west of the Herbede district of Witten . The mine tunnel was on the eastern side of the Hammertal .

Mining history

A length field was awarded on February 11, 1848 . In 1862, the length field was amended by Lawrence Erbstollen solved . In 1870 the pit field below the bottom of the tunnel was leased to the Blankenburg colliery . In the following year, the mine was put into operation above the tunnel floor. The promotion of the mined coal was carried out by the Lawrence Erbstollen. In 1878 the mining above the bottom of the Erbstollen was finished. The mining was now continued under the bottom of the Erbstollen. The promotion of the mined coal was carried out now in a shaft of the coal mine Blankenburg. In 1879 the Lebrecht colliery was acquired by the Blankenburg colliery, but both mines continued to operate independently. In the second half of 1888, mining at the Lebrecht colliery was stopped and only maintenance work was carried out. A closing date is not mentioned in the documents. However, around 1950 and thereafter the Lebrecht colliery was dismantled by the Cleverbank colliery for a few years.

Promotion and workforce

The first production and workforce figures come from the year 1872, at that time there were 23 miners working on the mine who produced 3392 tonnes of hard coal. In 1875, nine miners extracted 2,236 tons of hard coal. The maximum funding was achieved in 1879. With 42 miners 13,695 tons of hard coal were extracted. In 1880, four miners mined 2,200 tons of hard coal. In 1885 eight miners mined 3,680 tons of hard coal. The last known production and workforce figures for the mine are from 1887, 4058 tons of hard coal were mined with ten miners.
