The Zeche Mühle in Essen-Werden -Bredeney is a former hard coal mine . The mine was in the Heissiwald. The mine was shut down and put back into operation several times. The Zeche Mühle was one of the founding members of the Association for Mining Interests .

Mining history

In 1834 a length field was awarded . The mine was in operation in 1836, then it was up to the year 1842 deadlines set. In 1848 the mine was back in operation, but was shut down again after a short period of operation. In 1857 hard coal was mined by means of tunnel construction . The mine was still in operation in 1858, but was later closed again. In 1869, after being shut down for several years, the mine was reopened. At that time, the mine was part of the Altendorf mining area . The mine was in operation from 1869 to 1872, but there was no dismantling. In the years 1877 to 1880 the mine was closed again. From 1881 the mine was back in operation. In 1888 the mine was closed again. In 1890 the mine was put back into operation. In a construction area of 30 meters trending length two were seams in Verhieb taken. This year there was only an insignificant extraction . In September 1900 the Zeche Mühle was closed due to a lack of sales. In order to avoid disputes with the neighboring mines, the field boundaries of the mine were perforated by the mining authorities .

Promotion and workforce

The first production figures come from the year 1836, 3164 ½ tons of coal were produced. The first known workforce figures come from 1858, in that year two miners were employed at the mine. Between 1869 and 1872, between one and four miners worked on the mine. In 1873 18 miners extracted 1,506 tons of hard coal. In 1881 seven miners extracted 927 tons of hard coal. The maximum production was achieved in 1883, 2166 tons of hard coal were produced. This promotion was provided by 16 miners. In 1885, four miners extracted 525 tons of hard coal. The same extraction was provided by only two miners in 1887. The last known workforce and production figures for the mine are from 1900, 45 tons of hard coal were mined with two miners.
