Zehlendorfer branch canal at the junction from the Teltow Canal

The Zehlendorfer branch canal is a northerly branch of the Teltow Canal at kilometer 13.49 in the Berlin district of Lichterfelde with a length of one kilometer. It is one of the so-called other inland waterways of the federal government and legally belongs to the Teltow Canal. The Berlin district office of Steglitz-Zehlendorf names it as the water body no. 191 led; the local nature conservation and green space office is responsible. The state of Berlin is the owner of the area except for the water area and a strip of river bank on both sides. Entry was prohibited by the responsible Berlin Waterways and Shipping Authority with the general prohibition sign A.1 of the Inland Waterways Regulations . The reason for this is the planned development towards a natural landscape area .

The Zehlendorfer branch canal is a remnant of the former Teltower See and was created in its current form at the same time as the construction of the Teltow Canal at the beginning of the 20th century. At that time it was in the area of the municipality of Zehlendorf .
