history

Albert Venedai Zehnacker first studied law in Breslau. In 1929 he went into business for himself in Koberwitz near Breslau before moving to Singen in 1933. There he met Elisabeth Burkart, geb. Gromotka, know. At that time, Elisabeth Burkart was still married to Albert Burkart and had three children with him. Albert Burkart died in 1934. In June 1947 Albert Venedai and Elisabeth Zehnacker divorced. In the course of the legal agreements, Elisabeth was awarded the company as a severance payment, which she initially ran on her own under the name Zehnacker.

After the war, the Zehnacker company was entered in the trade register of the Constance Chamber of Crafts in 1949 . The 1950s and 1960s were shaped by the establishment and expansion of the company at the Singen location under the management of Elisabeth Zehnacker's son, Albert Rolf Burkart. In 1972 the step abroad took place and the Zehnacker group of companies was founded in Austria . In 1982 the company had 2,000 employees.

In April 2004, the German private equity investor Odewald & Cie took a 45% stake alongside the Burkart family. In the spring of 2006, the Zehnacker Group acquired GA-tec Gebäude- und Anlagentechnik GmbH, headquartered in Heidelberg, followed in the winter of the same year by a majority stake in the private nursing home operator of the Vitanas Group in Berlin.

In December 2008, the shareholders announced the sale of a 90% majority of the capital to Sodexo; Odewald and the Burkart family initially held the remaining 10%. As part of the sale to Sodexo, the Vitanas (geriatric care) division was taken out and acquired by the Burkart family.

In 2009 the company was taken over by the French Sodexo Group and fully integrated into it in 2015.
