The tithe barn in Balingen , the district town of the Zollernalb district in Baden-Württemberg , with the address Neue Straße 59, is a protected cultural monument . In the official publications available on the status of a monument, it is listed under the name "Zehntscheune". In publications by the city administration of Balingen and in regional parlance, it is referred to as the tithe scheuer .

The Zehntscheuer is a long, massive building. Towards the street it is provided with several arched gates of different sizes, towards the rear it sits on the inner wall of the former, two-part city fortifications. It is crowned by a multi-floor gable roof .

The coat of arms of the Count of Württemberg (used until 1495) on the west facade of the building identifies the building as the tithe barn of the Württemberg sovereign . Until the tithing was abolished in 1848, mainly grain and hay were stored in the mighty building.

Building inscriptions from 1617 and 1675 indicate that it was rebuilt after the city fires of 1607 and 1672. It was spared from the city fire in 1809. From 1986 to 1990 the tithe barn was renovated and expanded into the house of museums . The local history museum and the Friedrich-Eckenfelder-Galerie are housed in the building.

One of the outstanding exhibits is the coat of arms of Duke Johann Friedrich , which used to be in the city church .
