Zeitfenster (Original title: The Vertical Hour ) is a drama by the British author David Hare .

It premiered in 2006 at the Music Box Theater on Broadway .

action

The protagonist Nadia Blye, former war correspondent and now professor of political science at a renowned American university, is torn between bourgeoisie and adventure in crisis areas, between following her own destiny and adapting. Between “political correctness” and uninhibited expression of opinion, she tries to fathom for herself whether the private can be faded out, pushed aside for a greater meaning, or whether the origin of all actions does not lie in the private, personal.

Her boyfriend Philip wants to spend a few days with his father with her. This visit turns out to be very conflictual. In the course of the evening at the theater she encounters various extremes, embodied by a snobbish son of a heavily rich American (Dennis Dutton), her boyfriend (Philip Lucas), who may not be as strong as he looks, his father (Oliver Lucas), who has clear views and holds some secrets, and finally Terry Scholes, who simply trusts her heart and beliefs.

review

From a medical point of view, the title refers to the moment between the impact of a bomb and giving up hope of saving life.
