The magazine for ancient Christianity. Journal of Ancient Christianity (ZAC) is an international scientific journal. The contributions deal with topics about Christianity in its Greco-Roman environment from antiquity . The magazine sets its thematic focus on the classical studies of antiquity including the history of law and philosophy, church history and historical religious studies .

The magazine for ancient Christianity was founded by the first editors Hanns Christof Brennecke and Christoph Markschies , the first volume appeared in 1997. The editorial board initially included Susanna Elm , Karla Pollmann , Christoph Riedweg , Georg Schöllgen , Rowan Williams and Wolfgang Wischmeyer . Later Volker Henning Drecoll moved up to the editorial board and Lorenzo Perronein the editorial board. The magazine was initially published in two issues, and since 2007 in three issues with a total of around 600 pages. The edition is 1000 copies. Contributions are usually published in German, English, French or Italian and each ends with an English or German summary (abstract). The journal is divided into several sub-items:

The editorial office is based at the chair of Christoph Markschies at the theological faculty of the Humboldt University in Berlin .
