The Scopariinae , also called moss borer , are a subfamily of the Crambidae .
features
The Scopariinae are characterized by their own pattern of drawing of the forewings as a monophylum .
Way of life
The distribution area of the subfamily extends from the temperate zones to the tropics. The caterpillars eat moss , lichens , bear moss plants , but also seed plants . This is where the name Mooszünsler comes from for this subfamily.
Systematics
Around 530 species have become known worldwide. The subfamily Scopariinae currently contains seven genera; six genera with 54 species also occur in Europe.
