The Zeitschrift für Grundschulforschung (ZfG) - Journal for Primary Education Research is an established specialist body for scientific publications that deal with issues relating to education in primary education, not only from a national, but increasingly also from an international perspective. Problems with the institutions, professions and practices upstream and downstream of the primary school are also taken into account. The journal sees itself in particular as a publication organ for theoretical and research contributions in the elementary area. It is published every six months a year by JB Metzler'sche Verlagsbuchhandlung , Stuttgart.

Profile and structure

With the focus on primary and elementary education, the journal encompasses a broad and complex field of discourse and research. In thematic concretization, this includes a. the scientific examination of external and internal school conditions for the success of collective and individual educational and learning processes, including the quality of the course and outcome that is claimed and realized. Furthermore, the field of discourse and research includes questions about the organizational, temporal, social, curricular and methodological design of primary and elementary education under contextual conditions and requirements that vary according to culture, region and location, as well as with the educational professions involved. The ZfG publishes theoretical reflections and discourses of different disciplinary origins on these and a whole series of other problems .

Each individual issue contains research articles on a particular topic, which the editors announce in advance by means of a call for papers. In addition, open articles that are not related to the topic are represented in each issue. Introductory and discussion contributions are published in line with the respective focus topic, as well as reviews.
