Zell is located at the exit of the upper Marbach from its forest valley into the open corridor on the district road 1408, which connects the federal road 297 north of Rechberghausen with the main town of Börtlingen. The neighboring community of Birenbach is just under a kilometer to the east .

history

The place - formerly Zell unter Staufen or Zell bei Bertlingen - probably belonged to the founding equipment of the nearby Adelberg Monastery and was first mentioned in a document in 1451. In addition to Adelberg, the Faurndauer Stift also owned Zell. A dammed lake in the Marbachtal ( Zeller See ) supplied several mills .

In 1769 Zell had 50 inhabitants, by 1844 the number of inhabitants grew to 90. The place only received a connection to the drinking water supply in 1955 via the neighboring municipality of Birenbach .
