coat of arms
The blazon of the Birenbach municipal coat of arms reads: In gold above a lowered blue wavy bar, a striding red-tongued black lion .
The black lion of the partly talking coat of arms in yellow stands for the Staufer dukes of Swabia and reminds of the former relationship of the place to the rule of Büren-Hohenstaufen. The wave bar stands for the stream in the place name Birenbach. The coat of arms was established in 1958 and awarded together with the blue and yellow flag on August 18, 1959 by the Ministry of the Interior.
Partnerships
The community of Birenbach has been a member of the community administration association (GVV) "Östlicher Schurwald" since 1972, to which the association communities Adelberg, Börtlingen and Rechberghausen also belong. The association is based in Rechberghausen. With the municipalities of Wäschenbeuren, Börtlingen and Adelberg, the municipality of Birenbach also forms the "Marbach-Krettenbachtal wastewater association". The wastewater treatment plant is operated jointly. The community of Birenbach is a partner in the "Stromnetzgesellschaft Östlicher Schurwald", founded in 2013, to which the communities of Adelberg, Börtlingen, Rechberghausen and Wäschenbeuren also belong. The electricity grids for local supply are therefore mostly owned by society and thus by the municipalities. Another partner is EnBW. In addition, the community of Birenbach is a member of the Landscape Conservation Association (LEV) of the district of Göppingen and belongs to the economic development company (Wif) of the district of Göppingen.
religion
Birenbach was a three-part place in the manor. This division meant that when the Reformation was introduced in Württemberg in 1535, Birenbach only became partially Protestant. The Habsburg parts (which were given as a fief to the Lords of Rechberg ) of the place remained Roman Catholic . The church in Birenbach is therefore Catholic. After the Reformation, the Württemberg part was assigned to the neighboring parish of Börtlingen. Until 1989 the evangelical parish, assigned to the church district Göppingen , and the parsonage belonging to it was only called "Börtlingen". In 1989 the parish and parish were renamed "Börtlingen-Birenbach". There is a Protestant parish hall in Birenbach, which was redesigned into a church hall in 2007 by the architects Klaiber + Oettle. The church hall received a pipe resonator organ from the Kienle company.
