Rainer Bader (born February 24, 1965 in Birenbach ) is a German doctor and professor of biomechanics and implant technology at the University of Rostock . His main research interests are implants and endoprostheses as well as the regeneration of bone and cartilage tissue .

Life

Rainer Bader was born on February 24, 1965 in Birenbach. He passed his Abitur in Göppingen in 1984 and began studying medicine at the University of Ulm that year , which he completed in 1991. Until 1993 he worked as an intern at the Böblingen District Hospital . He then served as a medical officer in basic military service in 1993/1994.

In 1994 Bader began another course of study. He studied medical technology at the University of Ulm and received in 1999 the degree of Diplom - Engineer . In the following three years he worked as a research assistant at the Technical University of Munich (TU Munich), Clinic for Orthopedics and Sports Orthopedics, where he received his doctorate in medicine in 2001 with the dissertation Biomechanical Investigations of Implants for anterior lumbar interbody fusion . In 2004 he went to the Department of Orthopedics at the University of Rostock as a research assistant and in June of the following year became head of the “Biomechanics and Implant Technology” laboratory there.

Rainer Bader completed his habilitation in 2006 with a thesis on Mechanical Effects in Artificial Hip Replacement. Numerical and experimental analysis of range of motion, impingement and safety against dislocation . Since 2009 he has held a W2 professorship for biomechanics and implant technology.
