Zeng Chenggang

Zeng Chenggang ( Chinese  曾 成钢 , Pinyin Zēng Chénggāng ; * 1960 in Pingyang , Wenzhou City , Zhejiang Province ) is a Chinese sculptor and university professor.

Life

Zeng studied at the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts and graduated with a master's degree in 1990. From 1996 to 2000 he was the dean of the sculpture department at the China Academy of Fine Arts. Since 2000 he has been a professor at the Academy of Art and Design at Tsinghua University in Beijing.

His sculpture Three Heroes of Jianhu (1989) was shown at the 7th National Art Exhibition in China. It is in the collection of the National Art Museum of China (NAMOC) in Beijing. At the Expo 2010 in Shanghai , his sculpture lotus blossom was shown , which was shown in 2011 at NordArt in Büdelsdorf . There he was awarded the Nord-Art-Preis 2010 in 2011, which is endowed with 10,000 euros.

During the 2008 Summer Olympics he was responsible for public art in Beijing .

Zeng is President of the China Sculpture Institute and Vice President of the China Artists Association.

  • 1989: Three Heroes of Jianhu : The marble sculpture shows Qiu Jin , her cousin Xu Xilin and Táo Chéngzhāng (1878–1912), who are regarded as martyrs and heroes of the “democratic revolution” in Zhejiang Province.
  • 2007: lotus blossom : the sculpture made of polished stainless steel symbolizes an "always new departure".
  • 2014: Friedrich Engels statue in Engelsgarten , Wuppertal
